Get Dirty & Get Sh*t Done

Volunteer

ORA is a small nonprofit with a rapidly growing number of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. The great people who volunteer make it possible for us to build and maintain miles of shared use trails for the community. The Driftless Area has some of the most giving people anywhere.

Join the fun and check out our current volunteer events. While you’re at it, go ahead and sign the waiver so you’re ready to go!

Recurring Trail Maintenance Nights

Upper Hixon: the first 3 Mondays of each month from May to September, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, meet at the trailhead by the weather ball.

Lower Hixon: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from May to September,  5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. We will meet at different locations depending on the trails that need to be worked on. Follow ORA on Facebook for location details.

For updates and reminders on trail work follow ORA on Facebook or sign up here to be added to our volunteer newsletter.

Hixon trail maintenance is all done by volunteers, with equipment provided by ORA. This is a great activity for groups of trail users to help with. Trail Maintenance nights are a great way to meet new people, improve our community and have fun. Meet at the designated meet-up location and we’ll set you up with an assignment, overseen by a Master Certified Trail Builder. (No prior experience necessary.)

Besides building and maintaining trails; volunteers assist with communication, funding, mapping, tool maintenance, event coordination and administrative work. Volunteers are the reason that ORA is productive and successful.
